OVERVIEW

Workshop 1 provides an introduction into the initial stages of entering the criminal justice system. This includes stops and searches, police stations, court procedures, and the information gathering and preparation required before a court appearance.

This is particularly important because evidence has shown that a lack of understanding of the criminal justice system has led to poor decision-making at the beginning and resulted in harsher-than-usual punishment.

Participants will understand how entering this system could be just the beginning of a never-ending cycle.
