OVERVIEW
Workshop 3 illustrates the long-term and far-reaching impact that going to prison can have on an individual, their family, friends and sometimes their community.
This is particularly important because understanding the ripple effect is normally hidden and only revealed once it is too late. Often a young person realises the effects when their situation is out of their control which causes more challenges ahead.
Participants will understand how their imprisonment would affect the mental health of the people closest to them.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following areas:
Prison Visits
The stress, journey, costs & dangers of visiting.
Vulnerabilities
Loved ones may worry about you day and night.
Unsolved issues before going into prison may affect your family.
Funerals
Not being allowed out to attend a funeral after the loss of a loved one.
